Bogus notaries & Misleading Title and Trust Companies.
Over the past few months, I have been hearing reports from San Lucas and Todos Santos about so called notaries,
title and trust companies. There is just one notary in Todos Santos, Mr. Alanís, Notary number 25. As to the other misleading services offered, the folks offering these services are neither trust nor title insurance companies, so be aware.
So-called Trust companies in Mexico aren’t what you would know them to be in Canada or the United States. These consultants offering their services are simply closing agents, some of which rely on inexperienced assistants that provide soft closings.
I have over 32 years of experience as a real estate attorney, my professional Thesis is” the study of the Mexican Trust” (comparative Law) and a former trust executive with Banco Nacional de Mexico.
