Miracle in Loreto Bay!
This Tuesday morning Area Supervisor Javier Ruiz was at the southern access control point when he observed a truck coming down the road towards him to enter the development. He noticed that the front bumper had something hooked on it. He first thought it was a stuffed animal, so he asked the driver what it was. When they checked together they realized that it was a small deer stuck in the bumper. The supervisor Javier untangled the body from the bumper and noted that the animal showed no signs of life. Javier then began immediately performing chest compressions and administered CPR breathing. Miraculously, after these administrations, the little deer begins to react by kicking. The supervisor Javier was elated with the recovery of the animal and took a photo with the little deer, taking the animal in his arms. He then headed towards the mountains crossing the road, and set it free. The little deer appeared uninjured as it bound it to the woods free again and safe and sound! Rumors persist of some relation to Rudolph but they are highly speculative! Seasons greetings from your Area Supervision and Administrative staff! |
Mexico is on phase 2 of covid19 prevention and the Municipality of Loreto is abiding to promoting social distancing. The regulations have not shut down stores and within the Keep Loreto Magical https://www.keeploretomagical.org we want to make sure that producers of the Sierra La Giganta, as well as small mom/pop shops of Loreto stay afoot in your consumer choices. I think Bodega (Walmart) and Ley (Safeway) are going to be okay during these changes. If you want to buy food, why not try locally own businesses? So myself and Erik are committed to serving as bridge for weekly deliveries in down town Loreto and Nopolo from local ranchers and local stores for cleaning products or other house hold needs. We plan to do this at NO EXTRA COST. There is a nice diversity of items available before you have to go to the mentioned franchise stores (Pescador and Big Mart are locally owned businesses by Familia Amador).
Here are pictures of veggies + fruits + meats + fish options available. For meat: there is goat, beef, chicken, turkey. Fish is from San Nicolas via cooperative with Mr Luciano Sanchez. Dairy can be from Rancho Tiombo or Rancho San Felipe or San Javier. Ranchers have prepared food to go (menudo, or pozole) and much more. There will not be a minimum purchase, just 1 delivery day: Friday morning for Nopolo, and friday afternoon for Loreto (where we may make several stops). This is not only locally grown, no pesticides, fresh of day veggies, and no hormones on meats, but the majority of the crops are heirloom and the price is the same or better than the franchise stores. For ordering delivery and more information you can email me at cecilia_fischer@yahoo.com.mx or cell 612 153 3752
Because the community supported agriculture movement was started with your support 3 years ago, Loreto now has food options that are local organic foods, cost accesible to Mexicans and prices that don't jump overnight from the inflation we are currently facing with the devaluation of the peso. We want to keep having these growers accesible to all consumers. In other news: My mom - Cecilia Cavia will have fresh sourdough bread for delivery (in case you didn't know - she is an accomplished baker) PanQuePan is very good too! My moms store "El Porton" in Nopolo plans to let some organic vendors leave their items at her store and she will be opening her store from 11am to 3pm. Jorge Magdaleno CSA is also doing deliveries with a lovely variety of items.
Our dear friends at La Choya store with Miglenne Glez S and Isaac Aleman Feerman are also doing deliveries.
We are just focussing more on ranch products.
For more options on take-out from locally own businesses please look up the fabulous Facebook group that
has been made by Dia Morales for local small business of Loreto (there is so much lovely entrepreneurship!) -https://www.facebook.com/groups/496168967181259/
It has over 15,000 members and Loreto has only 20,000 residents. It is a beautiful effort to support
local business. All in spanish with lots of pictures and you can also hit translation button.
Thank you for reading long post and choosing to support local, it truly makes a measurable difference.
Thank you Laurie Vance for the motivation, cecilia_fischer@yahoo.com.mx or cell 612 153 3752
