SECURITY IN OUR COMMUNITY INCREASED

Here in Loreto Bay, we are fortunate to live in a safe, secure community. Historically, there have been very low incidents of crime. Many of our communities in the United States and Canada have significantly more occurrences. Unfortunately, over the last three months, Loreto Bay has been subjected to four confirmed acts of theft as well as a few additional reports of suspicious activity. The communities immediately adjacent to us have also experienced thefts. Three boats were stolen from the marina and several homes in the Homex development and Nopolo were broken into. This is concerning to all of us.

This activity may be reflective of the time of year, it may be related to higher occupancy and more opportunity, or it may be an indicator that criminal activity is increasing in the area.  The Board has taken the following actions to address these concerns: *Security has been directed to be more vigilant and assertive in their patrols. Homeowners, workers, and guests may be asked about their unit number or job assignment. Please do not be offended. The Security guards will be polite, and we expect homeowners, workers, and guests to be respectful and understanding in return. *We have increased Security Staffing – an additional security guard has been hired for the 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. shift resulting in guards at each community access point. *The Municipal Police will increase their presence by providing patrols every 2 to 3 hours on the Paseo during the evening hours. *The Board is also investigating medium and long-term solutions to ensure we have the security systems in place for a safe and vibrant community. This includes using technology to strengthen our security systems.

Please remember to do your part in keeping our community safe and secure by reporting any suspicious behavior and by keeping your homes and possessions secured. Also, the security guards are here to assist and protect – please remember to be courteous and respectful as they do their job. Thank you.

Here is an update of what is happening in Sub Regime H:

  • I would like to thank the outgoing Sub H Committee Members for their work on our behalf:  Rick Lehman, Jeff Sauvageau, Mary Olson and Hans Soderstrom.  What a great group of neighbors and volunteers.
  • I would also like to welcome our two new Committee Members:  George Deakin and Rob Carter.  Your Sub H Committee members for 2019 are:  Mardi Cannon, Mark Jacobs, George Deakin, Rob Carter and Kristen Winn.  Gene Setka remains as our Master Representative and as the Treasurer of the Master Board.
  • A Committee was formed to review the two rental cost sharing proposals which includes Rob Carter (Chair), Dick Winn, Bill Schweinfurth, Craig Constanza and Damian Smith.  This Committee has been asked to meet and report back to the Sub H Committee.
  • Thank you to the Homeowners have volunteered to help with Sub H tasks, including Craig Constanza, Fauna Tomlinson and Duane Shooltz--it does take a village!
  • Also, we have a celebrity in our Sub---Rick "Kaz" Kasmier, the Publisher of Nopolo News.  If you have not checked out NN, it is a wealth of information about Loreto Bay and Loreto.  Thank you Kaz (and Sandi)! https://www.nopolonews.com/
  • Annual Meeting:  I will forward the approved budget and minutes once I receive them.  The good news is that we will not have an increase in our dues for 2019.
  • Golf Cart Pads were briefly discussed at the AM and our current moratorium on adding pads will continue.
  • If you have any questions or concerns, please email me or any of the other Sub H Committee Members.
